The Housing Authority of Bowling Green is committed to achieving excellence in providing safe, clean, and modern housing assistance while promoting self-sufficiency, upward mobility, and homeownership opportunities to its residents.
Public housing has been a part of this country since Thomas Jefferson formed federal regulations to keep housing safe in 1790. Since then, many additional measures have been taken to ensure safe and affordable housing — our founding fathers recognized the need from the very beginning.
The Housing Authority of Bowling Green was established in 1965 with the purpose of providing decent, safe, and sanitary housing at an affordable cost. Today, HABG not only provides housing at six locations throughout Bowling Green, but also offers numerous programs to assist low-income individuals and families in becoming self-sufficient and moving from rental housing to homeownership.
Public housing gives a hand up for those that are in need — empowering residents by challenging them to work their way toward self-sufficiency.
